A private equity group is bidding to buy Ukrop’s Super Markets Inc., according to trade publication Supermarket News.
The industry publication reports that an unnamed private equity group has outbid Harris Teeter to buy Ukrop’s and is in negotiations with the grocer. Supermarket News did not name the source for the information.
Ukrop’s has refused to comment on whether it is for sale since last month when Food World, another trade publication, reported that Ukrop’s has offered a prospectus detailing company information to at least three companies that could be potential buyers.
