A 45,700-square-foot XXI Forever store will open at Regency Square mall this year.
Construction begins in June on the store, considered a mini-anchor tenant because it will take up almost an entire section of the mall's interior space on two levels near the Sears store.
XXI Forever is the larger flagship model of clothing retailer Forever 21 and For Love 21.
The flagship store carries the same inventory found at Forever 21 and For Love 21 as well as expanded lines of men's and women's clothing and accessories.
Those two stores already have a presence at Regency Square. Forever 21 is in the space that is set to be rebuilt, and For Love 21 is on the second level near the Texas de Brazil restaurant.
Jack Romaine, Regency Square's general manager, said the mall has been working on clearing the space for the two-story flagship store since last year.
Urban fashion retailer DTLR will move from the second level to a larger location, which is under construction, on the lower level near J.C. Penney. It is set to open in the late spring.
Romaine could not say what would happen to a Champ's Sports, which is now on the first level where the XXI Forever store is going.
A Bath & Body Works on the second level will remain where it is.
The XXI Forever will be the first in the Richmond area. There are two others in the state, in Virginia Beach and Fairfax County.
