Henrico County-based golf products and stroller company Dynamic Brands Inc. is adding some brands to its product lineup.
The company, already the owner of golf products such as Bag Boy and Slotline and the Baby Jogger line of athletic strollers, said yesterday that it has acquired the assets of ForeFront Holdings LLC, a Springfield, Tenn.-based maker of golf products.
The deal closed Monday. Privately owned Dynamic Brands did not disclose the purchase price or sales figures.
The acquisition includes brands such as the Burton line of high-end, customized golf bags sold to country clubs, as well as the Datrek brand of golf bags and accessories sold at retail stores. It also includes the Devant and Sir Christopher Hatton brands of golf towels, and Miller Golf customizable products such as bag tags, repair tools, ball markers and tees.
"The addition of these well-respected brands allows us to better service our customers with high-quality customized merchandise," David Boardman, chief executive officer of Dynamic Brands, said in a statement.
Dynamic Brands employs 48 people in the Richmond area and elsewhere. The company is retaining 30 employees of the 62 that work at ForeFront Holdings.
A Devant towel plant in Monroe, N.C., with 20 employees will remain open.
ForeFront's corporate office with 32 employees, and a warehouse in Baldwin, Miss., with 10 employees, will be closed. Some of the employees from ForeFront's office and warehouse will transfer to Dynamic Brands' office on Magellan Parkway off Parham Road in northern Henrico or its warehouse in Los Angeles.
The acquisition comes after several others for Dynamic Brands since 2007.
In April, its Baby Jogger division announced it had agreed to buy New York-based Protect-A-Bub Co., a privately held maker of sunand weather-protection products for babies and toddlers. In September 2007, Dynamic Brands acquired Long Beach, Calif.-based Slotline Golf Inc., a maker of putters.
