If the Richmond area wants to be a global region, said My Lan Tran, "we have to be more global."
And to do that, the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce is helping people bring their products and services overseas through the Asian American Business Assistance Center, said Tran, the chamber's executive director.
The center and its network of business advisers is providing weekly entrepreneurship development assistance through one-on-one domestic and international business counseling, she said.
"The free assistance offered by the Asian American Business Assistance Center in Richmond is not limited to Asian-Americans," Tran said.
"We're offering advice to any businesses seeking expert assistance related to virtually any area of business management," she said, noting that "counseling is provided by a professionally trained, experienced, and certified business analyst."
The multilingual center will help entrepreneurs find answers, work out small-business development ideas, identify problems, find solutions and share resources.
The center's services include site selection, access to financing, government business incentives, domestic and global marketing plan development, international market research, e-commerce and website development, low-cost workshops, and networking events.
Business advisers are available by appointment every Tuesday and Thursday at the business assistance center in the SunTrust Bank building at 919 E. Main St. in downtown Richmond.
Appointments are for an hour and must be scheduled in advance.
