Dominion Virginia Power will hold a public open house Tuesday in Charles City County to discuss a proposed power line project.
The meeting on the proposed Chickahominy-Skiffes Creek transmission line will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Charles City County Social Center, 8320 Ruthville Road.
To meet increasing electricity demand and comply with mandatory federal power reliability standards, the utility said it is developing plans to use a previously acquired right-of-way corridor to build a 500-kilovolt transmission line running about 25 miles through Charles City and James City counties.
Company officials will be available to discuss the estimated $150 million-$250 million project with the public. The existing uncleared easements should be large enough to accommodate the proposed line, Dominion Virginia Power said.
The utility intends to file an application in February with the State Corporation Commission for approval to build the line.
