Sunday should be an exciting day for polo lovers. The 2011 Cadillac Cup Polo Match will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18 at The Virginia Polo Center in Charlottesville.
This year’s match will be between the University of Virginia 2011 National Championship team and University of Virginia alumni team. The match will be preceded by an elegant seated luncheon limited to 300 guests. Additionally, there is room for a limited number of tailgate and picnic spaces along the sidelines.
Located five miles from the University of Virginia main campus, Virginia Polo’s 75-acre polo training facility is where U.Va. students hone their polo skills, local high school students begin their polo careers and polo enthusiasts participate in lessons, clinics and leagues throughout the year.
RAISING MONEY FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
“The purpose of the Cadillac Cup is to raise money for local charities and reintroduce polo to central Virginia,” said Jacques Moore, owner of Moore Cadillac of Richmond and Cadillac Cup sponsor. From 1986 to 2009 the Commonwealth-Cadillac Cup was held at two sites in Goochland County. The new Cadillac Cup, introduced last year, will continue to raise money for local charities.
Three well-respected Virginia charitable efforts—the World Pediatric Project, Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services and the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls—are the beneficiaries of this event.
“The Cadillac Cup polo match fills the void in polo events for the region,” said Tracey Leverty of Echelon Event Management. “Quite simply, there is not a better way to spend a fall Sunday than in gorgeous Charlottesville, watching amazing polo in action. Moore Cadillac and the planning group are honored to be benefitting three great charities and hope to continue to give back to the community for years to come.”
CADILLAC: A BRAND FOR CHAMPIONS
It’s fitting that Cadillac is the automobile linked with the polo cup, because the Cadillac brand embodies the luxury and class of a polo match.
“The Cadillac line is great,” said Frank Perrone, chief operating officer of Moore Cadillac. “The quality, reliability and styling are just tops in the industry.”
Keep an eye on Richmond Drives this fall for Cadillac news, because a lot of good things are coming down the pike.
“Cadillac will be eliminating the aging DTS and STS sedans and replacing them with a new large sedan called the XTS. It will be the new flagship for Cadillac, and it’s going to be an awesome vehicle for us,” said Billy Theodorakos, the general sales manager for Moore Cadillac.
So this weekend, enjoy a lively polo match, and stay tuned this fall for more news on Cadillac.
