Rowland Fine Dining (2132 W. Main St.) will host a New Year's Eve dinner with seating from 5 to 8 p.m. Entree choices are pan-roasted duck breast, grilled hanger steak with herb gnocchi, ratatouille ravioli or roasted bronzini. The New Year's Eve celebration at the Historic John Marshall Ballrooms (101 N. Fifth St.) includes a tapas buffet with meatballs with two sauces, empanadas, jambalaya and spoonbread with buttermilk pan-fried catfish, among other dishes. Good-luck black-eyed pea chowder to go will be served in the lobby entrance from 12:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. The event starts at 8 p.m. and features Ron Moody & the Centaurs with guest Quatro na Bossa. Broad St.) will hold a New Year's Day Brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu includes shrimp and grits, spinach and bacon quiche, fruit parfaits and an omelet station. The Paradise Diner (2845 Hathaway Road) has started serving dinner as well as breakfast and lunch, according to owner Phil Minor, who also owns Local Motion Catering. The diner is open Monday and Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. A brunch is served in addition to breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
