The Virginia Center for Architecture is showing works by Carlton Abbott. The architect's projects include the Museum of the Confederacy's new Appomattox site and the George Washington Parkway.
"He's highly recognized as an architect," said Rhea George, the center's director of marketing and communications. "Many people don't realize that he's also a very accomplished artist."
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, the center will hold its "Art with Abbott Workshop," which includes a talk by the architect and hands-on exercises by participants. The cost is $85. Email aliguori@aiava.org or call (804) 644-3041, ext. 100, today to secure a space. The free exhibit runs through March 25 at 2501 Monument Ave. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
