Table Talk: Valentine's menus

Enjoy a six-course wine dinner Feb. 21 at the Skilligalee Restaurant at 5416 Glenside Drive.

 Strawberry Street Café (421 N. Strawberry St.) is serving up a Sweetheart Dinner for Two, available Feb. 10-14, starting at 4 p.m. daily. The cost is $39 per couple, and includes soup and salad and a choice of two entrees from the new menu. Selections include drunken rib-eye steak marinated in Guinness stout, beer-battered fish and chips, Cabot Vermont white cheddar mac and cheese casserole topped with grilled chicken and blackened Mahi Mahi.  Positive Vibe Café (2825 Hathaway Road) will feature its Valentine menu on February 11, 12 and 14 from 5 to 9 p.m., including a choice of butternut squash soup or pear and Gorgonzola salad; Angus prime rib or grilled Mahi Mahi; and white chocolate mousse or hummingbird cake. The cost is $55 a couple, excluding tax and gratuity. For more information, call (804) 560-9622.

 The Dining Room at The Berkeley Hotel (1200 E. Cary St.) will have a special menu on Valentine's Day with seatings from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The five-course meal includes a salad, choice of appetizer, choice of entrees — pan-roasted game hen, broiled red snapper, grilled loin of lamb or duo of filet mignon and crab cake — and a choice of dessert — double molten chocolate, apple bread pudding, red velvet cake or raspberry macaroons. The cost is $59 per person, not including beverages. Live jazz with Carol Covell and Skip Gailes is every Saturday night in February from 7 to 10 p.m. For information, call (804) 780-4422.

 The Hippodrome Theater and Mansion five 26 (526 N. Second St.) will hold A Hipp Valentine's Evening Dinner and music by Sharon Rae North and her band. The menu includes a choice of Caesar salad or crab corn chowder; crab- and scallop-stuffed tilapia, chicken cordon bleu or filet mignon; and red velvet cake or lemon mascarpone cake. A cocktail reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. is followed by dinner seatings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $125 per couple, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations are limited.  The Phoenician Restaurant (4401 W. Broad St.) will offer dinner specials such as baked rockfish, grilled tenderloin of beef and stuffed chicken breast on Valentine's Day. Accordion player Barry Bless entertains starting at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, call (804) 359-5590. On Saturday, belly dancing starts at 8:30 p.m.

 Can-Can Brasserie (3120 W. Cary St.) will have a "Virginia Is for Lovers" Local Tap Takeover on Saturday featuring beers  from all over the state. The event is held in partnership with Taste the Local, an advocacy group that promotes local beer in Richmond. Money raised from a silent auction from 5:30 to 9 p.m. will go to Pink Ink Fund to help women seeking nipple and areola repigmentation after mastectomies. The event starts at 5 p.m., and there is no cover charge. For information, call (804) 358-7274.

 Green Monkey Catering and Carytown Teas will host a Mother-Daughter Tea and Tasting at Glave Kocen Gallery (1620 W. Main St.) Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. It's the first in a monthly series of teas. Prices range from $12 to $35 per person. For tickets, call (804) 740-6659.

 The Skilligalee Restaurant (5416 Glenside Drive) will hold a six-course wine dinner on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. Dinner includes mushroom caps stuffed with crabmeat; seafood chowder; Virginia flounder topped with crabmeat, scallops and champagne sauce; and French silk pie.  New restaurant: Gordon's Quiche Café (9681 W. Broad St.) opened on Feb. 1 in the Westpark Shopping Center. In addition to the main event, Executive Chef Gordon Russell, who previously owned The Welcome Table Northside, also serves up homemade soup, a daily sandwich special and salads. Entrees include sautéed pork chops, steak, fish and curried chicken. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. For information, call (804) 270-0828.
