Frigid temperatures, ice, snow -- sick of it all? There's a thaw in sight.

For 21 years, the Maymont Flower & Garden Show has been Richmond's harbinger of spring.

The show, which runs Feb. 18-21 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, is staged again this year by Maymont and MAC Events. It will feature indoor and outdoor gardening ideas, remodeling solutions, interior design and furnishings, shopping and special guests.

An area called "Designs for Living," which displayed three rooms by local interior designers last year, will be expanded to seven or eight spaces. The vignettes will showcase a kitchen, breakfast nook, study, family room, bathroom and an environmentally friendly nursery.

Designers scheduled to appear include Kathy Corbet of Kathy Corbet Interiors, Elizabeth Cabell of Elizabeth Cabell Design Studio, David Barden from David Barden Home, Helen O'Ferrall and representatives from Breathe Easy Décor and Custom Kitchens of Virginia.

Celebrity home designer Eddie Ross, formerly of Martha Stewart Living, Food Network and House Beautiful, will be a guest at the show. Ross visited Richmond in the fall for an event at the Virginia Historical Society. Search "Richmond" to read about it on his Web site, www.eddieross.com.

Ross is into almost everything, particularly flea-market finds, using color in the home, crafts, collecting, decorating, entertaining, flowers, food and holidays.

Tara Dillard will focus on creating a beautiful garden and incorporating nature into every aspect of life. Dillard's background is in horticulture, industrial engineering, teaching and garden television.

Chris French from the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay will discuss how gardeners can help save the bay.

As always, the marketplace will be filled with gifts, tools, plants, gadgets, books and other goodies that will tempt gardeners and nature lovers.
