Quilting Adventures, a locally owned fabric and quilting shop in the Shops at Willow Lawn, is hosting a 30-hour quilting marathon from April 30 to May 2 to benefit support services provided by Massey Cancer Center in Richmond. The hours will be Friday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
Quilters will gather at Quilting Adventures to work for three-hour shifts. Prizes will be awarded to the top team and top individual fundraisers. All proceeds will go to Massey Cancer Center for programs that provide services to cancer patients and their families and friends. Volunteers will be quilting by hand as well as by sewing machine. The finished quilts will be donated to the Highlands-Massey Classic and the annual Cure By Design event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Everyone is invited to stop by to encourage the volunteers. To donate to the event or sponsor a quilter, visit Quilting Adventures in person or on the Web at www.quiltingadventures.com or call (804) 262-0005.
