Deluge of talent on tap in Glen Allen

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will welcome some familiar acts during the 2011-12 season as well as debut some locally produced sounds.

The political-satire group Capitol Steps kicks off the season Sept. 10 and, as in previous years, is the top-selling ticket so far.

"Their material is always up-to-date and hilarious, and nobody is spared," said Anita Waters, director of public relations and marketing for the center.

Audiences will be treated to a variety of musical performances throughout the season, from gospel to Motown to rock. Waters said the Rock & Roll Jubilee scheduled for March is a premier performance that will be produced locally. The show features music from legends such as Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly.

Tickets for individual shows are on sale. Prices for subscription packages vary with the number of performances an individual wants to attend, with discounts ranging from 10 percent to 20 percent a show. The Cultural Arts Center is at 2880 Mountain Road. For details, call the box office at (804) 261-ARTS (2787) or visit www.artsglenallen.com.
