The House of Delegates approved a measure on Monday allowing residents of other states to obtain car-title loans in Virginia. The bill, which already passed the Senate and squeaked through the House with a 51-47 vote, would permit residents of other states to take out loans here, including people from states that prohibit such loans or have capped interest rates.
Decision on Senate run later this month or early next month.
Gov. Bob McDonnell’s proposal to privatize the state’s ABC retail operation is stalled in the General Assembly, with neither the Senate nor the House taking it up as of now.
UPDATE: Del. Robert H. Brink, D-Arlington, has called a 2 p.m. news conference to “announce his introduction of a bill to enact the Governor’s proposed privatization of ABC retail operations.”
