Nine people were displaced by a fire that damaged an apartment building in North Richmond this morning.

There were no injuries in the fire, which was reported before 5 a.m. in the 4200 block of Old Brook Road, just southwest of John Marshall High School.

The fire was brought under control quickly, but authorities called the Greater Richmond Chapter of the American Red Cross to help provide housing assistance for six adults and three children who were forced from their apartments by the smoke, fire and water damage.
