And there could be three.
A Richmond political consultant, Rich Savage, is considering seeking the 2009 Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.
"I'm testing the waters for lieutenant governor," Savage said today. "I've been receiving a lot of encouragement and support."
Savage is the 46-year-old father of twin girls. He says his top concern is public education -- "intellectual infrastructure" he calls it.
Savage will decide after the holidays whether to run. Currently in the race: former Secretary of Finance Jody Wagner of Virginia Beach and businessman Jon Bowerbank of Russell County.
Savage has been a campaigns-and-elections consultant for 20 years, 15 in Virginia.
The lieutenant governorship is a part-time job and often a steppingstone to the governor's office. The current lieutenant governor, Republican Bill Bolling of Hanover, is seeking a second term.
