The discovery of a body early today inside a South Richmond house is being investigated as a homicide.
Richmond police spokeswoman Karla E. Peters said officers were called about 12:30 a.m. to the 600 block of Effingham Drive, just northeast of the intersection of Warwick and German School roads, for a report of a person down.
Officers discovered a male unresponsive inside a one-story bungalow, and he was declared dead at the scene, Peters said.
The cause of death was uncertain, she said, but police are treating it as a homicide investigation.
Authorities were working to determine the victim's identity.
