RESTON -- Virginia's gubernatorial candidates made their second joint appearance of the campaign this morning before the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
The candidates promised to work hard at creating jobs for an economically depressed state, and pledged to promote technology by improving Virginia's colleges and universities.
Appearing were Democrats Terry McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee; former Del. Brian Moran of Alexandria; Sen. R. Creigh Deeds of Bath County; and the lone Republican seeking his party's nomination, former attorney general Robert McDonnell.
McAuliffe said the only way to solve the state's transportation problem is to overcome Republican oppsoition in the House. He said he would "win the House of Delegates" by setting up a grassroots operation through his campaign. McAuliffe said he has already opened 11 offices around the state.
Deeds promised an energy technology research center, Moran said the state needs another research park and McDonnell said he would cut regulations to improve the business climate.
