HAMPTON -- Police seized dozens of suspected video-gambling machines in overnight raids at several Hampton strip malls.
Police say they had been staking out three businesses since early March and conducted the seizures at Get Lucky Internet Time, Hampton Roads Billiards and Supplies, and Movie Play Home Gaming Supplies.
A police spokeswoman says patrons of the businesses could face misdemeanor charges, but the main goal of the raids late Friday and early yesterday was to seize equipment and go after proprietors.
In each business, customers could gamble by purchasing a card onto which they deposited money. The cards could then be used as individual accounts on computers on which patrons could pick from a variety of games and play by clicking a mouse.
