The Christian Children's Fund is changing its name -- again.
The Henrico County-based nonprofit is eliminating the Christian reference from its moniker in favor of the name ChildFund International.
The new name, to take effect July 1, is to coincide with the group's 70th anniversary and a new strategy of prioritizing programs that develop healthy and secure infants, educated and confident children and skilled and involved youth.
"Our strategy allows children to get healthy, to get smart and to change their world. These views are the distinguishing features of CCF and will be at the core of our work as ChildFund International," Anne Lynam Goddard, the group's president and chief executive officer, said in a release today.
This is not the first time the group has changed its name. The charity, which was founded in 1938 as China's Children Fund, currently operates in 31 countries.
The new name was approved by the nonprofit's board Tuesday.
