VDOT is going to eliminate the positions held by 680 workers, but officials believe they can find other jobs for most of the workers who want to stay with the agency, the agency said today.
Those who cannot find, or do not want, a position with the Virginia Department of Transportation can expect to be let go in April. The notices will go out next month.
Of 363 employees who were going to be laid off in the fall, but wanted to remain with the department, only 35 could not find other jobs at VDOT, the highway agency said.
