House, Senate work to reconcile budget differences

»  Comments | Post a Comment

At the Virginia General Assembly today, House and Senate negotiators could hold their first meeting on the state budget proposals.

The Senate passed its version of the budget bill yesterday. The House approved a spending plan last week. Now a conference committee must iron out the differences.

The legislature is scheduled to adjourn Feb. 28. It's possible the budget may not be made final until lawmakers return for their veto session in April because of details surrounding the federal economic stimulus money coming to Virginia.
