STUART -- A lawsuit against the former operator of a Patrick County hospital seeks $1 million in damages, including wages owed to more than 85 employees.
Plaintiffs' attorney John Fishwick said the lawsuit filed yesterday in Patrick County Circuit Court seeks up to $250,000 in wages owed to workers at R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital.
The lawsuit names as defendants PCH Operations LLC and two managers, Steven D. Womack and Melvin E. Woodward Jr. A telephone message seeking comment from Womack was not immediately returned.
Fishwick says the 85 plaintiffs are owed two to four weeks' worth of wages, as well as benefits such as health insurance claims. The workers lost their jobs Oct. 29, although the new operator has rehired some of them.
