Richmond police this afternoon say they’ve arrested two young out-of-state men in connection with two armed robberies that occurred early this morning.

Kraig Andrew Kiepprien, 21, of New York and Steven Lee Reyes, 21, of California were each charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of use of a firearm during the robberies.

A Virginia State Police trooper spotted their vehicle at a New Kent County rest stop shortly after 7 a.m., authorities said.

The first robbery occurred in the 1100 block of E. 16th street at 5:10 a.m. The second robbery was in the 3000 block of Lawson Street at 5:45 a.m., Richmond police said.
