Hanover Del. Hargrove won't run again

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Del. Frank D. Hargrove Sr., R-Hanover, one of the longest serving members of the General Assembly, announced today he will not seek re-election to the House of Delegates.

Hargrove, 82, has served in the House since 1982. He represents the 55th district, which consists of most of Hanover County.

In recent years Hargrove has sought to abolish the death penalty in Virginia. He has said that life in prison is sufficient to protect the public while preventing the possibility of an execution arising from a wrongful conviction.
