»  Comments | Post a Comment

A male shooting victim was pronounced dead tonight at VCU Medical Center less than two hours after he was found lying on a grassy area off Bellevue Avenue just west of Chamberlayne Avenue.

After the victim was found around 9 p.m., Richmond Police Capt. Harvey S. Powers said he had “extremely critical injuries.”

Phyllis Arrington, a resident of the nearby Abbey Square Apartments, said she heard multiple gunshots tonight while she was inside an apartment.

Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood was on site at one point as a crowd of about 20 people across Chamberlayne watched police process the scene.
