Chesterfield County police have arrested a Disputanta man who authorities say is a suspect in several other recent holdups in the Richmond region.
Larry Donnell Starks, 26, has been charged in last night's holdup of the Nash Mart in the 1700 block of East Hundred Road.
Prince George County authorities said Starks is a strong suspect in two recent convenience store holdups there. "We feel pretty confident that it's the same guy," said Lt. Brian Kei of Prince George police.
Starks was arrested today about 7:45 a.m. after police said he showed up at the Chesterfield police precinct in Chester to reclaim his car that had been towed by police from the robbery scene. Starks is being investigated in connection with several other recent holdups in Chesterfield, said Lt. Eric Hartman.
"We are looking at him and his involvement in other robberies," Hartman said. "We have provided information to surrounding agencies who have had similar robberies."
Because of the recent rash of holdups, Chesterfield police intensified its patrols in the area where Thursday evening's holdup occurred, Hartman said. Officers observed a man in the Nash Mart parking lot about 9:50 p.m. wearing a mask and gloves.
He fled into nearby woods and couldn't be immediately located. State police and Richmond police assisted in the manhunt.
Starks is being held without bond in the Chesterfield Jail pending a hearing Monday in Chesterfield General District Court.
