Fairfax sets limits on take-home vehicles

»  Comments | Post a Comment

FAIRFAX -- The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors says fire department employees will be prohibited from taking department cars home if they live more than 30 miles outside of the county.

The revised policy is an effort to save taxpayer money and reduce chances of abuse. The regulation is meant to help employees respond quickly to emergencies.

Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Sharon Bulova says the county already has unloaded 30 take-home vehicles from its fleet, saving the county at least $700,000. -- The Associated Press
