Workers remove logs from James River

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Workers from two local companies, Riverside Outfitters and Truetimber Tree Service, cut logs from two spots in the James River in Richmond today.

The logs posed hazards to people who paddle and swim in the river. Sometimes called "strainers," logs at or just below the surface can hold a person who can't escape the force of the river's rapids. People caught in strainers can drown.

The workers removed logs from spots beside Belle Isle and off Brown's Island.
