A sea of green is overrunning North 25th Street today as vendors sell T-shirts, Celtic trinkets and Irish coffee while throngs of people mill about listening to tunes from two stages during the Church Hill Irish Festival.
If the first day of the Irish festival was any indication of what this summer's festival season will bring, organizers have cause for optimism.
By mid-afternoon lines to get into the festival were only rivaled by the lines at the beer wagons.
Green was so prevalent that it even co-opted the famed black and gold of the NFL Champion Pittsburgh Steelers on one baseball cap. The festival ends at 7 p.m. today and runs tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
