Street closings, detours Saturday for 10 K and Shamrock the Block

Don't assume you can use regular routes Saturday in Richmond north of the James River.

Streets will be closed for the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K and the Shamrock the Block celebration at the 17th Street Market.

Here are the closures and recommended detours: 10K closures

Broad Street will be closed between Belvidere Street and Lombardy Street from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. The recommended detour for westbound traffic is to turn right on Belvidere Street to northbound Interstate 95. The recommended detour for eastbound traffic is turning left on Allen Avenue, right on Leigh Street and right on Belvidere. Motorists are encouraged to use I-95 as an alternate.

Laurel Street will be closed between Main and Grace streets from 4 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Franklin Street will be closed between Shafer Street and Belvidere Street from 5 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Lombardy Street will be closed between Broad Street and Park Avenue from 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Franklin Street will be closed between Stuart Circle and Shafer Street from 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Grace Street will be closed between Belvidere Street and Allen Avenue from 7:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Monument Avenue will be closed between Stuart Circle (Lombardy Street) and Staples Mill Road from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. The recommended detour for eastbound traffic is left on Staples Mill Road, right on Broad Street, left on Allen Avenue, right on Leigh Street, right on Belvidere Street. The recommended detour for westbound traffic is right on Belvidere Street, left on Leigh Street, left on Allen Avenue, right on Broad Street.

Chantilly Street will be closed between Monumental Street and Monument Avenue from 5 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Kent Road will be closed between Wythe Avenue and Monument Avenue from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Park Avenue will be closed between Lombardy Street and Laurel Street from 7-9 a.m.

The Boulevard will be closed at Monument Avenue from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The recommended detour for northbound traffic is left on Park Avenue, right on Thompson Street to I-95.

The recommended detour for southbound traffic is right on Grace Street, right on Thompson Street, left on Broad Street, then left on Hamilton Street to I-95.

There will also be numerous street closings for all north and south streets intersecting Monument Avenue/Franklin Street between Staples Mill Road and Belvidere Street.

Parking ($5 per vehicle) is available in parking decks located at 801 W. Main St. (between Laurel and Cherry streets), at 1101 W. Cary St. (corner of Cary and Harrison streets), 609 Bowe St. (next to the Siegel Center) and 100 S. Jefferson St. (between Cary and Canal streets).

Shamrock the Block closures

The 6th Annual Shamrock the Block, canceled because of weather last Saturday, will be held Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the 17th Street Farmers' Market.
