Four people have been arrested for trying to smuggle illegal drugs into Richmond City Jail.
Sheriff C.T. Woody said today that two inmates, Paul Cosby, 42, and Michael Hicks, 25, had conspired with others to bring drugs into the jail. They also arrested Iris Trent, 24, for conspiring to deliver drugs to prisoners.
Police arrested Cosby after he retrieved the drugs and charged him with possessing heroin and marijuana, as well as conspiracy and two counts of possessing a controlled substance as a prisoner.
They charged Hicks with one count of conspiracy to possess a controlled substance as a prisoner.
Woody said investigators are seeking an additional suspect and that other charges may be brought by criminal indictment.0
