Va. AG candidate seeks probe of 'robo calls'

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Republican attorney general candidate John Brownlee's campaign says it will seek an investigation of automated phone calls attacking Brown.

Brownlee's campaign says the calls were made to delegates attending the Republican state convention this weekend in Richmond. Delegates will choose the GOP's nominee for attorney general and other offices.

Brownlee's campaign says the calls violate state law because there's no disclaimer indicating who paid for or authorized them. The campaign says it will ask law enforcement agencies to investigate the calls.

The other Republican candidates, state Sen. Ken Cuccinelli of Fairfax County and Arlington County lawyer Dave Foster, said their campaigns had nothing to do with the calls and condemned the tactic.
