UPDATE: Man's body recovered from James

Richmond Police and EMS are seen at the site along Riverside Drive, just east of the Huguenot Bridge, where a rescue team recovered the body of a 36-year-old man in the James River.

A swift-water rescue team recovered the body of a 36-year-old man in the James River just south of the Hugeunot Bridge this evening after he fell while trying to jump off a rope swing, authorities said.


At about 5:35 p.m. a witness called 911 after the man fell into the river, emerged, went back down and did not re-emerge. His body was found in the vicinity of the rope swing.
