Chesterfield police looking for mother of baby left in bag

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Chesterfield County police continued their efforts yesterday to find the mother of a newborn girl found in a shopping bag Monday.

"The baby is alive and well, and they're still working on trying to identify where the child came from," Chesterfield police Lt. Eric Hartman said yesterday.

Several neighborhood mothers found the baby in a Ukrop's shopping bag about 4 p.m. at a school bus stop in the 700 block of Vickilee Court. The baby had her umbilical cord attached and was wrapped in several small blankets and a woman's skirt.

The infant, who was not more than 36 hours old, was taken to CJW Medical Center (Chippenham).
