J.R. Tucker High School's former head football coach, accused in Henrico County of sexual involvement with two students, appeared briefly in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court today.
Former teacher and coach William Macgregor "Mac" Leighton initially was charged with five felonies stemming from charges that he solicited sexually explicit pictures from two students and took indecent liberties while in a custodial relationship with them. Two of the five charges -- solicitation charges -- were withdrawn. He still faces three indecent liberties charges.
Officials said the students were 15 and 17 at the time of the alleged incidents, which occurred between August and January.
A trial date was set for Nov. 17 in Henrico Circuit Court. If convicted, Leighton faces one to five years in prison on each of the three charges.
Leighton, 31, is out on $50,000 bail.
