Richmond Police this afternoon identified the woman fatally shot while sitting in a car in the Randolph neighborhood this morning as Tarchelle Nicole Daniel, 36, of 1212 Lakeview Ave.
The car was parked behind her residence in the Randolph Village Apartments when she was shot before 11 a.m, the department said in a news release. She was taken to VCU Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 11:35 a.m.
Officers said they "have developed a strong suspect" and do not believe the attack was a random shooting.
Daniel was shot multiple times by her attacker, police said earlier. Police dogs and investigators examined a vehicle parked behind the apartment that had its driver's side window shot out. A police aircraft also flew overhead.
Richmond police yesterday investigated two homicides in the East End; Henrico police also investigated a homicide in the eastern part of the county.
Richmond police do not believe any of the three city homicides are connected. But they say they are working closely with Henrico police in connection with the killing in the county and the homicide at Oakwood.
Also this afternoon, Richmond police identified yesterday’s homicide victim at a Creighton Road shopping center as Devin L. Morse, 26, of the 1900 block of Accommodation Street.
Morse was taken to VCU Medical Center after police were called to the Eastlawn Shopping Center at 11:41 a.m. He died at 12:20 p.m. An investigation into the slaying is continuing.
