2nd GOP candidate seeks Chesterfield House seat

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Sherman Litton, a former member of the Chesterfield County Planning Commission, is seeking the Republican nomination to run for the 27th District House of Delegates seat in northern and central Chesterfield.

Litton, who formerly worked with the Virginia Department of Transportation, said the county's transportation problems need to be resolved. He also said he will work on jobs creation through private-sector activities, if elected.

Litton has also served on the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and the Richmond Metropolitan Planning Organization. He has been chairman of the Chesterfield County Republican Committee.

He is the second candidate to enter the GOP nominating contest. Roxann Robinson, an optometrist, also is running.

The seat became vacant when Del. Samuel A. Nixon Jr., a Republican, resigned to become chief information officer of the Virginia Information Technologies Agency.

A special election will be held June 15 to fill the vacancy.
