People who live near the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will have their say about an electronic sign that the museum plans to install.
A public forum will be held at the museum in the Reynolds Lecture Hall at 6 p.m. Jan. 11, so residents can view the plans first-hand and share their comments.
“The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has heard both negative and positive comments from the community about the digital imaging sign that is planned for the museum’s front yard on Boulevard,” Alex Nyerges, director of the museum, wrote in an e-mail Thursday to leaders of the Museum District, Fan District and Boulevard associations.
Nyerges invited association members to the forum.
He also invited Brian Ohlinger, former chairman of the state board of Art and Architecture Review and an associate vice president at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Richard Sliwoski, director of the Virginia Department of General Services, which staffs the review board. Sliwoski has approved the sign after a recommendation from the review board.
