A Hopewell man has been charged with murder in Monday's fatal stabbing of his housemate, police said.
William Henry Stringfield, 39, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Lonnie Drumin, 57, who was stabbed in the chest about 4:40 p.m. while standing outside his home in the 2300 block of Dellrose Drive, police said. Drumin died after being transported to John Randolph Medical Center.
Hopewell detectives discovered Stringfield hiding in a closet about 10:50 p.m. Monday as they were searching Drumin's house with a warrant, police said. Stringfield initially was arrested on an outstanding warrant of unauthorized use of a vehicle and taken to Riverside Regional Jail.
After further investigation, investigators charged Stringfield in Drumin's slaying. Police said the two men lived together. The killing is Hopewell's first homicide of the year. -- Mark Bowes
