The House of Delegates added $37 million to the budget today, helped by $23 million in federal funds sent down Wednesday.
The new funds will add 178 slots for Medicaid waiver services for people with disabilities. The waiver program has a waiting list of 6,000 people.
Only 100 of the new waivers will be available in the first budget year. At that rate, said Jamie Liban, executive director of The Arc of Virginia, it would take 60 years to eliminate the waiting list even if no one was ever added.
