School-choice advocate will be Va. Secretary of Education

Gerard Robinson, a nationally known advocate for school choice, will be the state's new Secretary of Education.


Robinson heads the nonprofit Black Alliance for Educational Options.


Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell made school choice one of the keystones of his education program during his campaign.


He has scheduled a news conference tomorrow to announce this appointment and others.
