Gov. Bob McDonnell said today that he will make cuts in health care, education and the Virginia Retirement System to help bring the state's budget into balance.
Appearing for the first time on the "Ask the Governor" radio show on WRVA, McDonnell said he has been talking with legislators about where to cut, but he gave no details.
McDonnell must make $4 billion in budget cuts to balance the budget for the 2010-2012 budget.
Former Gov. Timothy M. Kaine proposed $2.3 billion in cuts, plus an increase in the state income tax that McDonnell and the House of Delegates have rejected.
