One person was killed and another taken to the hospital this afternoon after a driver lost control on Interstate 64 in Henrico County and overturned several times, Virginia State Police said. All lanes of I-64 eastbound were closed at Exit 195 while investigators completed their work at the scene.
The driver ran off the right side of the road shortly before 4 p.m., overcorrected and then ran off the left side, flipping the vehicle, said Sgt. Thomas Molnar, a state police spokesman. The driver was ejected and died, Molnar said. Information on the passenger, who was taken to VCU Medical Center, was not immediately available.
Molnar said eastbound traffic was being taken off at Exit 195, where motorists were able to cross over Laburnum Avenue and re-enter I-64 east.
