Miss Greater Richmond Caitlin Uze won the Miss Virginia pageant last night after finishing as the second runner-up last year.
Uze, a 22-year-old graduate of James Madison University from Arlington, finished in the top 10 in 2008. She was also Miss Apple Blossom Festival in 2009.
Uze won a $16,500 scholarship for her victory and added a $500 scholarship for winning the swimsuit competition. She showed poise in her onstage interview, when she was asked about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The first runner-up was Miss Apple Blossom Festival Shannon Beam. Miss Hanover Erica Seredni was one of the 11 contestants to earn a spot in the finals.
Courtney Jamison was named Virginia's Outstanding Teen, and Casey Shepard was selected as Virginia's Outstanding Preteen. Each of them won a $1,000 savings bond.
