The Richmond Symphony has named Steven Smith as its new music director.
Smith succeeds former music director Mark Russell Smith to become the fifth conductor to lead the orchestra since its founding in 1957.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Smith has served as music director of the Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus since 1999.
