Virginia Supreme Court: Justice Mims

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Numerous stories have described the partisan rancor in Capitol Square. The General Assembly's Republicans and Democrats often seem as generous toward each other as fans of UVa and Tech. Today's observation reports welcome news.

Barbara Keenan's ascension to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals creates a vacancy on the Virginia Supreme Court. Former Attorney General Bill Mims has emerged as the consensus candidate to fill the seat.

Mims has earned the commonwealth's trust. He has served ably not only in the attorney general's office, but in the legislature. An individual with principles, Mims possesses a judicial temperament. We cannot think of a more fitting choice for the state's highest court.
