Rebates worth $10 million are available to help Virginia homeowners and small businesses reduce energy costs and implement renewable-energy systems.
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling announced yesterday that about $6.5 million is available for energy-efficiency applications, such as upgrading heating and air conditioning, home insulation and windows.
An additional $3.5 million will fund the Virginia Solar and Wind Incentive Program to encourage the purchase of those energy devices, Bolling said.
The first round of funding, which began in October under then-Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, provided $20 million. The funding was exhausted in three weeks, Bolling said.
The rebate programs are administered by the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, using federal stimulus money.
The department's Web site, www.dmme.virginia.gov, has information on the incentive programs.
