CHARLOTTESVILLE -- The Virginia men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 1 nationally, held a practice this morning, a day after Director of Athletics Craig Littlepage announced publicly that both teams would continue play into the postseason.
As of Tuesday evening, George Huguely's name has been removed from the team's official roster. He is charged in the death of women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love.
A team spokesman said that the practice would be closed to media, and that the team would not make any public statements at this time. The Cavaliers will wait until Sunday to find out who their opponent will be in the first round of the NCAA tournament, which will take place May 15 or 16 in Charlottesville.
The women's team was not scheduled to practice today, with the rest of the week yet to be determined. The women's team also is waiting to find out who and where it will play on May 15.
U.Va. held a scheduled "Reading Day" today as students prepare for final examinations, which will take place beginning Thursday and last for eight days.
