Richmond police investigate East End shooting

Richmond police are investigating the shooting and wounding of a man Wednesday night in the 1700 block of North 20th Street.

Officers cordoned the area when they arrived about 7:15 p.m. and could not immediately locate the victim, who had been taken by private vehicle to Richmond Community Hospital, said Capt. Dave Martin. The man, in his early 30s, was then transferred to VCU Medical Center with potential life-threatening injuries, Martin said.

Police were interviewing neighborhood residents but were unable to immediately confirm a motive or other circumstances of the shooting.
