It seems everyone in Richmond is feeling the excitement of Virginia Commonwealth University’s berth in the Final Four – even the rats.
In fact, rodent hoopsters at the Science Museum of Virginia forecast a successful weekend for the Rams in Houston.
Representing VCU, Sally the rat turned in a dominant performance Thursday morning, outscoring her opponents 106-4 to win the museum’s March Ratness basketball tournament. She beat her Butler opponent 50-0 and her Kentucky opponent 56-4.
But does this fare well for their human counterparts? Only in 2008, at the inaugural event, did the rats’ results reflect reality. Kansas was picked correctly that year.
Eleventh-seeded VCU squares off with No. 8 seed Butler University on Saturday night in the national semifinals. The second semifinal pits No. 4 seed Kentucky against No. 3 seed Connecticut.
